Both mining and astronomy delve back into time in search of some thing. Mining digs through layers of earth that have been laid down over millenia, the deeper the dig, the further back in time. Astronomy looks into deep space far back into time to understand the nature of the universe and what happened at its beginning. This work was inspired by the village of Magdalena, NM an old mining town and adjacent to the VLA and other clear sky astronomy activities.
