Faulty Foundations: False Teeth (biting the bullet)

Material is cut from an internet meme printed on MDO to construct a human mandible biting a bullet. The meme consists of an image of George Washington with falsely attributed quote. The jaw references the teeth mentioned in the quote, a foundational structure of the body, and the myth of Washington wearing wooden false teeth. An important structure of the body used as the first step in digestion is built of and upon a foundation of mistruth. And, of course, Washington’s teeth were not made of wood but rather the teeth from enslaved people.
